OCC Ombudsman Report- Annual Review

From the Desk of the Executive Assistant to the Acting Complaints Commissioner

The 2015/16 fiscal year is proving to be extremely busy and productive for the Office of the Complaints Commissioner (OCC).  In January 2015, the OCC bid farewell to the then Complaints Commissioner Ms. Nicola Williams after the tendering of her resignation and we warmly congratulated and accepted the appointment of Mrs. Bridgette Lazzari von Gerhardt (pictured below) as Acting Complaints Commissioner.  Mrs. von Gerhardt – prior to accepting her new role, was the Department’s Administrative and Investigative Officer.


In 2015/16, the OCC participated in various charitable and challenging events and promoted the works of the OCC through Public Education and Outreach (PEO) programs.  A few charitable events included support of great causes such as STOOD UP (a stance against bullying), the Every Step Counts – the Pedometer Challenge (An initiative undertaken by civil servants who band together to promote healthier lives through diet and exercise), and Autism Awareness.


The Office of the Complaints Commissioner also assisted government entities by conducting training for new ICP (Internal Complaints Process) Managers and existing ICP Managers who felt they needed a refresher course through the hosting of our bi-annual ICP Training which was conducted by Ms. Julie Faulknor-Grant, Senior Investigator/ICP Manager and Acting HR Manager for the OCC. We received an overwhelmingly positive response for participation and conducted two classes which were actively attended by various
government sectors.
